Orah Sydney partners with the international organisation Momentum to inspire mothers of school age children through a year of Jewish learning, personal growth and connection to Israel. This is a heavily subsidised programme which requires participants to meet the following eligibility requirements and commitment:
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be a mother, residing in Sydney, with a Jewish school age child living at home, under the age of 18.
You are not strictly religiously observant. This trip is designed for people who are not highly engaged in the Jewish community or Jewish ritual observance.
Participants must be physically and emotionally healthy. The experience in Israel has a lot packed in to each day with plenty of walking and the experience can bring up a lot of emotions, all of which will affect your energy level.
Programme Commitment: Participants must be available to attend 4 pre- trip meetings, a 9 day experience in Israel, attendance in-person at monthly learning sessions post the Israel trip for a period of 12 months, participate in community engagement activities and attend occasional social get-togethers. This is a minimum of a 12 month commitment plus the 4 pre-trip meetings.
(Note: If you do not meet the eligibility requirements listed above, but are still interested in participating in the Israel experience component of this programme, please consider applying for the non-subsidised option for women calledMOMENTUM GRAND).
Group Size: At OrahSydney we are committed to providing participants with a life-changing opportunity that not only feeds the body, inspires the mind and nurtures the soul, but one that also connects like-minded women in the community and build lifelong, new friendships.
To this end, each group consists of no more than 20 women, including 2 staff members. This has proven to be the perfect size to provide a group large enough to have an eclectic mix of wonderful women, yet small enough to be comfortable, manageable and yet still intimate.
With the popularity of the program growing rapidly in our community please note we receive significantly more applications to participate than we have available places. Unfortunately, not everyone who applies will be offered a place, as we consider not only your characteristics but those of the group as a whole. Having said that, we encourage you to apply, but just want to manage your expectations that if you are not successful this year, you may still be in the future.
The Application Process: Step 1: Register your interest below, or if our Application Form is open apply here in the first instance. Considered applicants will be sent an email to progress to step 2. Step 2: A subset of applicants will be invited to an in-person interview with OrahSydney group leaders, Sue Morris and Julie Klimt. This is a great opportunity for us to learn more about you, and for you to ask questions and learn more about whether this programme is right for you. Step 3: Successful interviewees will be sent a link to complete the Momentum Application Form. Momentum will determine the final success of the application. Step 4: Applicants will be offered a place via email which will the necessary instructions to accept and secure their place in the programme.
